An FD calculator estimates the maturity value of a one-time lump sum deposit made at a fixed interest rate over a chosen tenure. XIRR, or Extended Internal Rate of Return, calculates the actual annualised return on investments where cash flows occur at irregular intervals — such as SIP investments made on different dates at different NAVs.
