How can I invest in stocks online in India?

You can invest in stocks online through the Chola Securities app or web platform in the following steps:

  1. Open a demat and trading account with Chola Securities using the online KYC process.
  2. Fund your trading account through net banking or UPI.
  3. Search for a stock by name, symbol, or sector using the stock search or discovery tools.
  4. View the stock's price, charts, and Chola Securities research recommendation before placing an order.
  5. Place a buy order specifying quantity, price type (market or limit), and product type (delivery or intraday).
  6. Track your holdings, corporate events, and portfolio performance in the unified dashboard.

You can invest in stocks online by opening a demat and trading account with a SEBI-registered stock broker. Delivery trading means you buy shares and hold them in your demat account beyond the same trading day, for any duration from one day to many years. Intraday trading means you buy and sell shares within the same trading day, with all positions squared off before market close. Delivery trades qualify for the zero brokerage offer on Chola Securities for new accounts. Intraday trades are settled on the same day and do not result in shares being added to your demat holdings.
A demat account, short for dematerialised account, is a digital account that holds your shares and securities in electronic form. It is mandatory in India to have a demat account to buy, hold, or sell listed shares on NSE or BSE. When you place a delivery buy order, shares are credited to your demat account after the settlement cycle (T+1 in India as of 2024). When you sell, shares are debited from your demat account.
